23rd MARCH 2009 - Bloomfield Talks volunteer Oliver Heaton remains at the cutting edge! Not content to create the first people’s history digital broadcast last year, Oliver has now set up his own digital news radio station – BIRN – which is due to be launched on 28th March.
BIRN provides a 24/7 news service for Blackpool, including News Headlines on the half hour, Blackpool FC News, Sports News, Weather, and local music. The station is run as an enterprise project, funded by Blackpool Sixth Form College, where Oliver is currently studying.

Saturday 11 October 2008 - Tea Party Web Launch is a Smash!
The public tea party to launch the new online archive www.bloomfieldtalks.org took place on Saturday and was attended by over 150 people. All enjoyed tea, cake and sandwiches while browsing this site, adding more information and being entertained by local breakdancers Freefly, the Blackpool Barbershop Harmony Chorus and local folk trio Penny Black. the party was opened by the Worshipful the Mayor Councillor Mary Smith, who was brought up in Revoe and now represents Bloomfield ward. Illuminating the Illuminations Depot
‘Bloomfield Talks’ volunteer Yannick Dixon has started documenting the soon-to-move works that have been at the heart of the Blackpool Illuminations since the Second World War. Yannick describes the Illuminations Depot as a ‘unique workplace’ and will set out to capture the detail of people and place in a series of photographs which will appear online. Watch the Gallery!
