Next door to the Palladium cinema was a coffee bar called the “Copa Cabana” where, after going to see a film, we would go for a “frothy coffee” served in shallow glass cups. It was pretty tasteless by to-days coffee standards, but in the early 60’s it was the “in drink”! Coffee bars were all the rage. “The Domino” in Bond Street, South Shore. “La Fantasque” on Whitegate Drive to name just a few.
